Marksman studio's has been a long running dream of mine. I suppose I've expected everything to be right before I began, always wanting the right elements to be in place to make it happen but it never ever seemed to be the right time. It has always been the right time actually I just never believed enough in my own vision. I was looking for perfection. I wanted to work with some talented writers and some visionary illustrators but no matter how I tried to get the creative types involved, it just seemed the dream I was nurturing just wasn't inspiring enough to others or just a daunting prospect.

I wanted to work with some talented writers and some visionary illustrators but no matter how I tried to get the creative types involved, it just seemed the dream I was nurturing just wasn't inspiring enough to others or just a daunting prospect. The little day to day tests which gauged my true determination in achieving my goals ended in failure many times. I was blaming others for there lack of foresight and not taking responsibility for the ideas I had conceived myself. I struggled on with the publishing world, producing the work but not being accepted by the mainstream because my content was too black or in their insular minds not commercial enough. I was actually waiting for them to open the door for me while I should have forged my own way and kicked down some doors myself. Still life has a tendency of showing you the way if you hold on to a dream long enough and listen to that still small voice.

Thankfully I did and my path became clear.

Marksman Studios will give me the opportunity to celebrate black people's importance in genre fiction, film, Television and art. In my small way I will contribute to the impact we have in this field that I love so dearly. I want our presence to be felt in some far reaching galaxy, in 25th Century London of the future, represented in ancient history or some fantastical world of sword and sorcery. How crazy would it be to see a sister being a shot caller in some detective noir novel and because of her exploits became a household name? As time goes on I will tease you with these possibilities not only from my written work but from others who share the vision. There will be novels, drawings, paintings and figures all representing the black experience witnessed in unfamiliar, fantastic, sexual and supernatural situations. Stay with me as I push some of my ideas through to games, Tv, cinema, novels and comics. Charting my false starts and my successes for all to see. So in effect I'm taking responsibility for how some of the media will perceive our people in my small corner by creating Iconic characters with range and depth. And placing those same characters in extraordinary situations.
